Yahoo! News is gathering brief first-person accounts, photos and video from the severe winter weather in the northeastern United States. Here's one resident's story.
FIRST PERSON | As I gaze out the windows of my apartment in Hartford's west end, my view is of an ever-increasing coat of snow covering everything. There are still a few vehicles traversing the local roads but the number is diminishing quickly.
A few minutes ago, a police department truck and a tow truck came down our street and they are warning residents to remove their cars from the streets or they will be towed.
All activities today in the Hartford area have been canceled, and the few remaining retail stores that are open will probably be closing early. Last night, I went to buy a loaf of bread from a local grocery store and every single loaf in the store was sold out.
Ah, the joys of winter in New England.
