Broil Grapefruit to Take Off the Bitter Edge and Boost Its Natural Flavor

Broil Grapefruit to Take Off the Bitter Edge and Boost Its Natural FlavorBroil Grapefruit to Take Off the Bitter Edge and Boost Its Natural Flavor Grapefruit is a delicious citrus fruit that can be enjoyed any time of the day, not just breakfast. If you like grapefruit but don't care for its characteristic bitterness, CHOW has a tip: toss it under the broiler for a bit. It takes the edge off.

The video above explains it all, but all you have to do is cut a slice off one side (so it doesn't roll around), cut a circle around where the flesh meets the pith (which you should do anyway for easy removal?and no juice spray!), and put it in the oven under the broiler for about five minutes. A sprinkle of sugar before going in the oven will cut the tartness even more and add some sweetness in the process.

Even if you traditionally hate grapefruit, this might turn you around. Plus, the video above has some unique flavorings you can experiment with before you broil the grapefruit?even a dash of sriracha. That won't boost the "natural" flavor, but it definitely adds a kick.
